📋 Description

• Draft, review, and negotiate program, administrative, reinsurance, retrocessionaire, vendor, SaaS, NDA, and other commercial agreements • Manage contract negotiations and drive agreement delivery with internal and external parties • Monitor contract portfolio metrics and recommend process improvements and enhancements to contract management systems and AI review tools • Champion AI-assisted contract review through best practices, mentoring, guidance, and training • Participate in template development to address contract clauses, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance • Support claims and cost-containment audit reviews, including demand letters, legal responses, coverage positions, and resolution strategies • Manage complex claims litigation, settlement negotiations, releases, outside counsel, and strategic litigation guidance • Provide practical legal counsel to business units on risk mitigation, business objectives, and regulatory compliance • Advise on group benefits, insurance solutions, third-party self-funded plan administration, and regulatory matters • Lead special projects, process improvements, policy development, and cross-functional initiatives • Supervise legal interns and administrative staff, including assignments, performance management, development, and workflow • Develop and deliver legal training for legal, underwriting, claims, and other business teams • Represent the Company in relevant industry trade associations and professional organizations

🎯 Requirements

• Exceptional written communication skills for complex commercial, reinsurance, and administrative agreements • Ability to collaborate while independently managing assigned responsibilities • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines • Excellent oral communication and presentation skills • Strong follow-through and attention to detail • Proven negotiation and influencing skills for complex, multi-party negotiations • Ability to assess ambiguity and risk and counsel business clients • Ability to analyze and apply law to business goals and challenges • Experience supervising and mentoring legal support staff, interns, or junior attorneys • Experience designing and delivering training programs • Experience with ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ACA, NSA, and applicable insurance laws and regulations • Experience advising on group benefits, insurance solutions, third-party self-funded plan claim administration, and regulatory compliance • Subject matter expertise in Accident & Health litigation/advisory work, group insurance, stop-loss insurance, third-party benefit administration, or insurance/reinsurance contracts • J.D. degree • Admitted to a State Bar • Eligible for or willing to obtain a New Jersey Limited-License In-House Counsel license within one year of employment commencement • 8+ years of overall legal experience, including at least 3 years of relevant Accident & Health insurance products and claims management experience • Strong PC skills, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
