📋 Description

• Lead all piping engineering functions, including pipe stress analysis, piping standards and material specifications, and pipe support design • Establish and document pipe stress methodologies, standards, and best practices • Perform pipe stress analyses using industry-standard software • Evaluate piping systems for sustained, thermal expansion, occasional, seismic, wind, and dynamic loading • Design and specify pipe support systems, including springs, restraints, guides, anchors, and hangers • Develop and maintain the standard pipe support catalog • Prepare piping stress calculations, reports, design documentation, and engineering records • Ensure designs comply with ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, and other applicable standards • Coordinate with piping designers, mechanical, civil/structural, equipment, and project teams • Evaluate equipment nozzle loads and vendor allowable loads • Perform fatigue, creep, dynamic, pulsation, vibration, and buckling analyses • Collaborate with equipment vendors on pulsation dampeners and piping-system compatibility • Review vendor drawings, equipment data, and support details • Develop and standardize company-wide piping material specifications • Select piping materials based on process conditions, temperature, pressure, corrosion, erosion, compatibility, and codes • Prepare piping, valve, specialty-item, and procurement specifications • Review specification deviations and technical exceptions • Support value engineering and procurement activities • Serve as technical authority for piping engineering • Plan and coordinate engineering resources, staffing, forecasting, and workload • Assign, oversee, and review work by internal engineers, contractors, and third-party firms • Ensure deliverables meet schedules and quality standards • Participate in interdisciplinary design reviews, HAZOPs, constructability reviews, and design reviews • Mentor piping engineers and designers • Interface with clients, vendors, contractors, and regulatory agencies

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, structural engineering, or equivalent engineering program from an accredited four (4) year university or equivalent work experience • Minimum ten (10) years of job-related experience in piping engineering, including pipe stress analysis and piping materials/specifications • Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, MSS, ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, ASTM, API, NACE, WRC-537, and ISO • Experience using pipe stress analysis software, preferably AutoPIPE; experience with CAESAR II, ROHR, or PEPS is also acceptable • Experience selecting materials for high-temperature service, molten salt systems, cryogenic applications, vacuum piping systems, corrosive environments, and pressure-containing systems • Ability to communicate effectively with management, coworkers, vendors, and contractors • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, web browsers, and email applications • Experience with Navisworks is preferred • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure • Experience with 3D plant design software such as Plant 3D, SmartPlant, AVEVA E3D, or CADWorx • Experience in power generation, industrial process facilities, chemical processing, molten salt systems, or energy projects • Ability to perform stooping, climbing, typing, standing, or sitting for extended periods • Dedication to safety in environments involving heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead (Pb), high voltage, and cryogenics • Willingness to travel or work occasional nights, weekends, or on-call shifts
