Child Evangelism Fellowship is a non-profit, faith-based organization that evangelizes and teaches children ages 4–14 through volunteer-led programs such as 5-Day Club, Good News Club, and Christian Youth in Action. CEF trains ministry teams, supplies curriculum and materials, partners with churches and volunteers, and raises support through donations and prayer to promote Christian discipleship and outreach in Virginia and internationally.

📋 Description

• Support the financial integrity and ministry operations of CEF of Virginia • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in a central location using double-entry bookkeeping methods • Manage accounts payable, including tracking expenses, processing invoices, and reviewing and processing reimbursements • Prepare financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP • Reconcile bank statements and ensure transactions are properly recorded • Use financial software to streamline bookkeeping processes and enhance accuracy • Record investment income and ICS transfers • Make transfers to and from the State Office’s and chapters’ bank accounts • Calculate quarterly billing to chapters • Assist with payroll processing • File quarterly sales tax returns and assist with Form 990 and VA-102 filing preparation • Use QuickBooks, including its budget module, for budget preparation and reporting • Gather W9s and file annually • Complete other duties as assigned • Report to the State Director, and later to the Controller once hired • Work independently in a remote environment

🎯 Requirements

• Alignment with CEF’s Statement of Faith and ministry mission • Strong accounting experience • High proficiency in QuickBooks or similar financial software for bookkeeping tasks • Ability to independently close books and produce financial statements • Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting concepts • Excellent accuracy, organization, and analytical skills • Ability to work remotely with confidentiality and reliability • Proficiency in double entry bookkeeping and bank reconciliations • Experience with accounts payable management • Knowledge of GAAP standards and IRS compliance requirements for nonprofits • Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred • Experience with nonprofit or fund accounting preferred • Experience with ICS transfers or multi-entity accounting preferred • 5–7 years accounting experience • Eastern Time Zone or adjacent time zones preferred for collaboration and timely financial reporting • Must be legally authorized to work in the US • Must be willing to complete a background check • Must have a reliable remote work setup that ensures confidentiality and accuracy • Ability to affirm alignment with CEF’s Statement of Faith • Must provide a description of how Christian faith informs financial stewardship
