• Conduct editorial reviews of AP Exam items, exam forms, and associated materials • Serve as overall global editor and copyeditor of AP assessment items, forms, and associated materials • Ensure content is clear, concise, consistent, grammatically correct, and faithful to course-specific style conventions • Work with content experts to ensure assessment items are error-free • Apply AP assessment style guidelines and make editorial judgment calls across multiple resource sets • Fact-check and verify citations and source information • Use authoring and content management platforms • Ensure AP Exams adhere to layout and presentation specifications • Complete iterative reviews as AP Exams are revised • Proofread AP Exams and related publications or systems • Perform rigorous copy-to-copy comparisons • Develop and refine editorial resources for assigned courses • Lead strategic editorial projects such as exemplar items, style sheets, and task models • Investigate exemplars developed by other editors • Maintain an in-house assessment style guide • Monitor workflow, prioritize projects, and adhere to deadlines • Lead and participate in educational opportunities, trainings, and professional development • Make independent decisions on content and style issues and escalate issues when needed • Participate in coaching and feedback sessions • Identify inefficiencies and propose improved editorial practices, including innovative technologies
• 4+ years of copyediting, proofreading, and editing experience • Experience editing assessments and other education-related materials preferred • Bachelor’s degree • Knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style and other professional style guides • Extensive demonstrated experience applying professional style guides • Experience editing and working in content management systems and technical platforms • Strong organizational, time, and task management skills • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet timelines independently and collaboratively • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills • Growth mindset and flexibility in an ambiguous, changing environment • Ability to travel 3–5 times per year or less than 15% to College Board offices or on College Board business • Passion for expanding educational and career opportunities and mission-driven work • Curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging technologies, including AI-driven solutions • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills • Learner’s mindset and commitment to continuous growth • Ability to solve complex problems and make data-informed decisions • Collaborative and empathetic approach • Authorization to work in the United States
