• Preserve and improve the quality and validity of AP exams, course curricula, and professional development content for AP English Language and Seminar • Lead assessment development and final approval of test items and forms across multiple course titles • Author, revise, review, and manage formative and summative assessment content and scoring materials • Use generative AI appropriately in assessment authoring and review • Train and collaborate with college professors, secondary school teachers, and other subject-matter experts • Develop AP English Language and Seminar assessment forms aligned with curricula and test specifications • Lead face-to-face, weekend, and virtual Test Development Committee meetings • Train and supervise Test Development Committee members • Lead annual AP Reading scoring events and produce publications for teachers and students • Contribute to assessment research, best practices, validity, security, reliability, fairness, and quality monitoring • Establish fair, reliable, and valid cut scores with psychometrics and AP Curriculum & Assessment staff • Provide leadership, training, mentoring, and consultation to course experts and cross-subject assessment workstreams • Refine course frameworks and support development and testing of new AP English Language and Seminar products
• Master’s degree in English, Rhetoric and Composition, or a directly related discipline • Doctorate in the discipline strongly preferred • At least 10 years of experience in standardized assessment development or related work • Expertise in English, Rhetoric Composition, or a closely related field • Experience with digital assessment and teaching preferred • Strong oral and written communication skills • Solid technical proficiency and customer-focused mindset • Excellent organizational and planning skills, including proofreading and attention to detail • Ability to implement processes and procedures, manage project plans and schedules, and maintain tracking documentation • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills • Ability to travel 6–8 times per year, plus up to two additional weeks for the AP Reading • Must be eligible and authorized to work in the United States • Curiosity and willingness to experiment with and adopt AI-driven solutions and new digital tools • Learner’s mindset and commitment to growth • Drive for impact and excellence • Collaborative and empathetic approach
