Connections Academy is a tuition-free, accredited K–12 online public school program operated by Connections Education (a Pearson division). It delivers state-aligned curriculum and virtual classroom experiences with certified teachers, personalized learning, and support for families serving as learning coaches. The program offers grade-level courses, college and career readiness, clubs and socialization opportunities, and technology support across multiple U. S. states.

📋 Description

• Virtually manage instructional programs for students with special needs in collaboration with general education teachers • Consult regularly with learning coaches and students using telephone, Internet, and curriculum tools • Participate in all steps of the ARD/IEP process • Manage and provide instructional guidance, virtual teaching, and general strategies for a caseload of students • Develop, write, and ensure implementation of IEPs • Evaluate tests and assessments, complete progress reports, and conduct parent conferences • Communicate with parents and learning coaches to ensure IEP goals are met and student needs are addressed • Consult with teachers and coordinate specially designed instruction defined in IEPs • Provide direct services to students, including via web-conferencing software • Schedule, organize, and conduct IEP-related meetings virtually • Participate in the school’s Student Support Team • Help teachers and learning coaches develop and implement program modifications and strategies • Assist with IEP paperwork, documentation, and procedures • Coordinate with HISD service providers for related services mandated by IEPs • Maintain accurate data in the Learning Management System and special education platform • Assist with state testing and coordinate IEP-required special adaptations • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• Certification in Special Education (EC-12) • Valid Special Education credential in Texas • ACP candidates seeking an internship are not eligible • Willingness to complete a professional development course for online teaching meeting TxVSN requirements • Experience in policy (IDEA) and/or administration with Special Education • Strong technology skills, especially Microsoft Office and Google products • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Customer-focused approach • High degree of flexibility • Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment • Track record as a team player • Willingness to travel occasionally for marketing, state testing, and school-based events, potentially including overnight travel • Ability to use a personal electronic device and email address for two-step authentication
