📋 Description

• Serve as in-house legal subject matter expert and partner with the executive team • Lead product legal strategy and execution across privacy, data, AI, compliance, commercial contracts, customer security requirements, and scalable legal support • Provide timely and consistent guidance on privacy questions, particularly for Subscriber Signals • Develop practical, repeatable systems for legal support at scale • Build understanding of Kit, SparkLoop, Subscriber Signals, and the connected ecosystem of apps and tools • Report to the Chief Operating Officer and partner with product, sales, finance, and people operations leaders • Own core legal work in-house and determine when specialized outside counsel is needed • Assess legal risks, opportunities, ambiguities, and recurring work during onboarding • Map active data processing, privacy, AI, and other legal initiatives • Design privacy intake, guidance, and escalation systems • Partner with Sales, Sponsorships, Security, Product, and Engineering • Own GDPR and data compliance vetting • Establish a process for responding to customer security questionnaires • Advise product, engineering, security, and go-to-market teams on legal considerations • Build playbooks, templates, intake processes, and self-service guidance • Partner throughout the product lifecycle on initiatives and feature releases • Prioritize legal risks, reduce reliance on outside counsel, and streamline legal workflows • Improve Kit’s legal maturity across privacy, compliance, product counsel, commercial contracts, and security support

🎯 Requirements

• Deep expertise in data, compliance, and product • Strong ability to navigate U.S. and European data privacy laws, including GDPR and CCPA • Familiarity with data controller vs. processor distinctions • Ability to translate privacy and compliance requirements into scalable playbooks, templates, intake processes, and self-service guidance • Experience supporting customer security questionnaires • Experience partnering with security, sales, product, and engineering teams • Familiarity with SOC 2 Type II and related legal, privacy, and customer requirements • Understanding of intellectual property law, especially brand, content, and software • Understanding of commercial contracts • Clear communication and trusted-advisor capability • Experience as in-house counsel at a tech company or serving a tech portfolio at a top-tier startup-focused law firm • J.D. from an accredited law school in the United States • Active membership in good standing of a State Bar Association • Ability to work from the United States • Ability to work independently as the sole in-house legal expert • Ability to work quickly, take ownership, take initiative, identify problems, and drive solutions
