• Conduct thorough expert-level vehicle condition inspections at dealer/client lots • Safely locate, start, move, inspect, and return vehicles • Verify vehicle identification and accurately enter VIN, mileage, and sub-series information • Inspect and document vehicle equipment, options, damage, missing items, and inoperable items • Record exterior and interior vehicle condition, including tires, frame, glass, panels, mechanical components, seats, dashboard, and options • Perform basic mechanical checks on powertrain, drivetrain, and electrical components • Assist junior mobile inspectors with complex inspections and client relationships • Prepare and provide daily activity reports for management • Adapt daily appointments to ensure efficient and effective dealer visits • Develop client knowledge and maintain proactive on-lot engagement to support inspection volume • Leverage partner data and insights to maximize units inspected on dealer lots • Represent Cox Automotive as a brand ambassador and ensure client satisfaction • Collaborate with Wholesale Specialists, peers, Manheim workgroups, and auctions • Use Salesforce.com for reporting, lead input, and customer performance reviews • Apply the NAAA Frame/Structure Damage Policy • Participate in continuous improvement and Lean initiatives • Maintain production expectations • Follow safety and health procedures and participate in Safety Excellence activities • Perform other duties as assigned
• High School Diploma/GED plus 7 years’ experience in a related field • Motor Vehicle Physical Damage Appraiser License issued by the State of Connecticut required • Previous vehicle inspection experience and automotive knowledge in body and mechanical areas required • 2–3 years of automotive-related experience strongly preferred • 1 year of service with Manheim Inspections recommended • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record required • 100% travel and reliable transportation required • Mileage reimbursement program applies based on miles driven • Good communication and interpersonal skills required • Strong technical aptitude • Detail-oriented • Experience navigating handheld and other documentation devices preferred • Ability to work independently with remote supervision • Ability to multitask, follow directions, and take instruction required • Body, paint, and mechanical repair knowledge helpful • Familiarity with unibody and full-frame vehicles helpful • Ability to lift and hold at least 30 lbs. at waist level for an extended period • Ability to stand, walk, talk, hear, crouch, bend, kneel, reach inside or underneath vehicles, and lift hoods or trunks • Near vision sufficient to identify dings, scratches, paint work, hail damage, frame/unibody issues, and interior/exterior damage • Ability to identify exterior and interior colors and work in varying natural and artificial lighting • Physical ability and mental acuity to perform duties within required timeframes • Must clear a pre-employment drug test • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship • No OPT, CPT, STEM/OPT, or visa sponsorship now or in the future
