📋 Description

• Review medical records and assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes • Assign and sequence codes based on medical record documentation • Assign appropriate discharge disposition • Abstract and enter coded data for hospital statistical and reporting requirements • Communicate documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues for follow-up and resolution • Maintain 95% coding accuracy and 95% APC assignment accuracy while meeting productivity standards • Track continuing education credits to maintain professional credentials • Attend Datavant Health-sponsored education meetings and in-services • Communicate with co-workers, management, and hospital staff regarding clinical and reimbursement issues • Comply with AHIMA’s code of ethics and all HIM Division policies • Handle high-complexity work and decision-making in a professional, efficient, customer-service-focused manner

🎯 Requirements

• AHIMA certified credential (RHIA, RHIT, CCS) or AAPC certified credential (CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC, or CRC) • 3+ years of coding experience in a hospital and/or coding consulting role • Proficiency in most or all of: Same Day Surgery, Observation, Injections/Infusions • Proficiency in most or all of: Ancillary, Emergency Department, Injections/Infusions, E/M leveling • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Adeptness in remote work and exceptional time management skills • Experience with computerized encoding and abstracting software • Must take and pass annual Introductory HIPAA examination and other assigned annual testing • Required experience in facility ED E/M leveling, injections and infusions, ortho, urology, pain management, cardiology GI procedures, and endoscopies • Interventional radiology experience is a plus, but not required • No employment sponsorship available
