📋 Description

• Performs telephone triage under demanding, stressful, and repetitious conditions • Collects data and makes assessments, develops working diagnoses, determines interventions and dispositions according to guidelines • Guides callers in evaluating normal and abnormal symptoms, treatment effectiveness, and when to call back • Documents symptoms, complaints, nursing assessments, advice, and patient/caller responses • Follows policies, procedures, and protocols to improve healthcare outcomes and access to appropriate care • Performs initial assessments for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and/or geriatric patients • Differentiates normal from abnormal findings and identifies potential problems • Educates patients/callers through care advice and confirmation of understanding • Assesses for signs of abuse and makes appropriate referrals • Reviews medications, drug dosages, allergies, health history, and immunization status • Selects appropriate clinical guidelines and advises disposition • Performs quality improvement, documentation, and audio audits • Adjusts dispositions based on unique patient/caller needs using nursing judgment • Collects data and identifies process and operational improvements • Integrates quality assurance audit findings and new knowledge into practice

🎯 Requirements

• Associate's Degree required • 2-3 years of recent nursing experience required • Advice line, Emergency Department, Urgent Care and/or Triage experience preferred • BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required • RN-Registered Nurse license through DORA (Department of Regulatory Agencies) required • Provides age-appropriate triage and treatment dispositions to callers from newborn to adult, including OB and Worker's Compensation Injury Reporting • Utilizes computer software and associated programs to triage and send reports to appropriate agencies or clinics • Uses nursing judgment with computer software programs to reach appropriate dispositions and care advice • Ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations • Ability to apply nursing principles, practices and techniques • Ability to exercise initiative and judgment in selecting proper treatment • Ability to use computers and computer systems • Computer skills required • Bilingual skills preferred
