📋 Description

• Perform telephone triage under demanding, stressful, and repetitive conditions • Independently collect data and make assessments • Develop working diagnoses and determine interventions and disposition according to guidelines • Guide patients/callers in evaluating normal and abnormal symptoms, treatment effectiveness, and when to call back • Document symptoms/complaints, nursing assessments, advice, and patient/caller responses • Follow policies, procedures, and protocols to improve healthcare outcomes and access to appropriate care • Collect patient health data and perform initial assessments for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and/or geriatric patients • Evaluate age-appropriate care advice and differentiate normal from abnormal findings • Identify patient learning needs and provide education through care advice • Assess for signs of abuse and make appropriate referrals • Review medications, drug dosages, allergies, health history, and immunization status • Serve as team leader when assigned, monitor call-queue safety, and liaise on staffing or interdisciplinary issues • Act as a resource for staff and provide feedback to supervisors • Select appropriate guidelines based on assessment data • Maintain clear and concise documentation reflecting nursing assessments and care advice • Perform quality-improvement, documentation, and audio audits • Advise appropriate dispositions and adjust them based on patient/caller needs and nursing judgment • Identify process and operational improvements and collect supporting data • Integrate quality-assurance audit findings into practice • Identify learning needs and incorporate new knowledge into practice • Work three 10-hour evening shifts per week, including one weekend shift every week

🎯 Requirements

• Associate's Degree Required • Two years of recent nursing experience Required • BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association or American Red Cross Required • RN-Registered Nurse - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies Required • Provides age appropriate triage and treatment dispositions to all callers from newborn to Adult, including OB and Worker's Compensation Injury Reporting • Utilizes computer software and associated programs to triage and send reports to appropriate agencies or clinics • Uses nursing judgment as an adjunct to the computer Software Program to reach appropriate dispositions and care advice • Ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations • Ability to apply nursing principles, practices and techniques • Ability to exercise initiative and judgment in selecting proper treatment • Ability to use computers and computer systems • Computer skills required • Bilingual skills preferred • All job applicants for safety-sensitive positions must pass a pre-employment drug test after a conditional offer
