📋 Description

• Advise Product, Engineering, Marketing, Operations, and go-to-market teams as a trusted legal partner • Assess legal risks across product development, including privacy, regulatory, licensing, and intellectual property concerns • Drive resolution of legal issues involving customer data, privacy, security, export control, open-source software, and responsible AI • Help shape the strategy, structure, and priorities of the product counsel function • Advise on U.S. and global privacy laws, including CCPA and GDPR, and emerging AI regulations • Draft and negotiate commercial agreements and data protection agreements, including vendor, technology partnership, terms of service, product terms, privacy policies, and acceptable use policies • Support legal strategy for critical incident response and regulatory investigations • Co-develop self-service legal playbooks, templates, and automated workflows for Engineering and Product teams

🎯 Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school • Active bar membership in at least one U.S. state • 8+ years of legal experience with significant in-house experience supporting SaaS, PaaS, and/or IaaS product development teams • Track record of counseling AI product and engineering teams across the product development lifecycle • Strong business judgment to calibrate business and legal risk and translate complex legal advice into actionable guidance • Strong understanding of U.S. and global privacy regulations, intellectual property, open-source software, artificial intelligence, and data security • Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial and technology agreements • Superlative communication and collaborative problem-solving skills • Nice-to-have: expertise in privacy law, data security, IP and open source, or emerging AI/ML regulation • Nice-to-have: familiarity with FedRAMP, HIPAA, SOC 2, and practical engineering roadmaps • Nice-to-have: AI/ML product launch experience • Nice-to-have: incident response or regulatory investigation experience • Nice-to-have: self-service legal tooling, automation, or workflow implementation experience
