📋 Description

• Collaborate with the Lead UX/Accessibility Architect to scale digital standards across enterprise initiatives • Take ownership of user testing and UI optimization • Support the modernization pipeline for the Iowa DOE • Advance project phases with tight milestones and provide cross-agency support for the DNR and other state projects • Design, plan, and execute formal user experience research evaluating complex workflows • Moderate hands-on user testing sessions and run usability labs to identify and resolve workflow friction • Audit early layouts and interfaces against usability best practices and design standards • Translate district data reporting and environmental workflows into intuitive user journeys and behavioral personas • Structure data-heavy reporting categories using card sorting • Integrate digital accessibility into design systems and user research in alignment with WCAG standards • Partner with the Lead UX/Accessibility Architect across multi-agency initiatives, chatbot interfaces, and state projects • Collaborate with agency teams, product owners, and technical stakeholders to communicate design findings and research data

🎯 Requirements

• 8 years of experience moderating user testing sessions, executing usability labs, performing heuristic evaluations, mapping user journeys, and managing information architecture • 8 years of practical knowledge implementing WCAG 2.2 Level AA requirements, focus management, keyboard navigation mechanics, and color contrast principles within visual layouts • 8 years of experience clearly explaining user research insights, interface design choices, and usability standards to technical team members, developers, and agency stakeholders • 8 years of front-end engineering experience writing semantic HTML5 and modern, responsive CSS/SASS • 8 years of experience integrating interface designs into Angular or MVC .NET framework environments • 8 years of experience utilizing or extending the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS) • 8 years of experience in user experience research, usability testing, usability labs, heuristic evaluation, user journey mapping, and persona development • 8 years of experience with information architecture, card sorting, wireframing, interactive prototyping, UX design, WCAG 2.2 Level AA compliance, and focus management • 8 years of experience with keyboard navigation mechanics, color contrast requirements, accessibility auditing, technical communication, and design system usage • 8 years of experience implementing modern data architectures at an organization • 8 years of experience in a highly regulated industry performing statistical analysis and reporting
