• Handle liability and property claims within designated authority under close supervision • Resolve coverage and liability issues in accordance with applicable state insurance laws, regulations, and procedures • Investigate and adjudicate claims while verifying coverage and establishing and maintaining reserves • Secure recorded statements and draft/process correspondence, reports, and records • Obtain information to determine liability and document claim files • Facilitate claim processing with other departments • Assign outside experts when needed for investigation and potential recovery • Establish contact with all parties involved in claims • Evaluate and negotiate claims, recognize subrogation opportunities, and initiate action • Set up or issue settlement payments using approved methods, or decline payment within designated authority • Respond to inquiries from policyholders, agents, insurance carriers, claimants, assigned experts, and others • Maintain knowledge of liability laws, motor vehicle codes, no-fault, medical management, FPB laws, and bodily injury claims for each state • Respond to intercompany arbitration applications with supervisor guidance and file contentions and supporting documents • Conduct research and attend industry-related and other training programs • Provide support for property claims during periods of heavy volume • Report to Breanna Neill, Kristin Sanders, or Robert Tetterton
• High school diploma or GED and two years of related claims handling or customer service experience, or equivalent educational experience required • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree preferred • Successful completion of Introduction to Insurance (INTRO) and Introduction to Claims (AIC 30) preferred • Must obtain all required state licensing within 45 days of employment for external applicants and 90 days for internal applicants • Access to internet service with minimum speeds of 50 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload • Ability to work 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday Eastern Time • Rotating weekday evening and Saturday shifts required based on business and service-level needs • Regular and predictable attendance • Manual keying/data entry/computer use • Ability to move over 50 lbs using lifting aide equipment rarely • Lifting/moving, pushing/pulling, climbing/accessing heights, and other physical tasks as specified
