📋 Description

• Contact policyholders regarding property claims within level of authority • Conduct investigations and interview insureds and witnesses • Inspect property damage and prepare estimates • Evaluate and make recommendations regarding claim coverage • Handle property claims within designated authority, including setting and maintaining reserves • Obtain and review reports, statements, records and related materials • Evaluate information to determine coverage and total claim value • Determine payments and issue checks or decline payment as required • Document claim files and submit final reports for closure • Identify subrogation situations and initiate appropriate action • Service the assigned territory and bring claims to conclusion • Interact with agents and district sales managers • Handle claims involving property damage or coverage issues • Potentially handle litigated claims, negotiate with plaintiff attorneys, or coordinate litigation with defense counsel • Develop and apply knowledge of estimating practices and property-claim adjustment procedures • Attend industry-related and other training sessions • Complete Technical Learning Center Training within one year of hire • Participate on the Catastrophe Team when required • Travel on short notice to other locations for catastrophe duty, potentially for more than two consecutive weeks

🎯 Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED and two years of claims handling experience, or equivalent required • High School Diploma or GED and successful completion of ERIE-sponsored formal education, or Bachelor’s Degree required • Must live in the assigned territory unless a change is approved by the company • Ability to drive and travel regularly within the assigned territory • Willingness to pursue and complete Technical Learning Center Training required • Successful completion of AIC 33 and AIC 35 preferred • Willingness to obtain and maintain any required licenses • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required • Ability to serve on catastrophe duty and travel on short notice for periods exceeding two consecutive weeks • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required • Ability to move over 50 lbs using lifting aide equipment • Ability to climb/access heights • Ability to perform frequent driving • Ability to lift/move 0–20 lbs and 20–50 lbs • Ability to perform manual keying, data entry, computer use, and input information • Ability to push, pull, and move wheeled objects or equipment • Good time management and organization skills preferred
