📋 Description

• Establish immediate contact with policyholders and claimants • Conduct extensive investigations into causes and origins of major property claims • Interview insureds, claimants and other relevant parties • Inspect property damage and review information to prepare estimates • Evaluate and recommend claim coverage • Determine liability and total claim value • Negotiate settlements • Set and maintain adequate reserves • Evaluate property damage independently to determine the extent of loss • Develop estimates and obtain an agreed scope of work and repair cost with contractors and/or policyholders • Determine values under applicable coverage • Identify steps necessary to initiate property-loss investigations • Use outside experts and attorneys as required • Document claim files and submit final reports for closure • Assign and supervise independent adjusters when necessary • Advise claims adjusters on claim handling • Conduct related training for field-office claims personnel and Home Office staff • Attend industry-related training programs and maintain compliance with applicable laws and regulations • Establish and maintain relationships with local, state and regional organizations and agencies • Coordinate Catastrophe Team activities at catastrophe sites • Provide regular and predictable attendance • Provide 24-hour availability for emergency claims service

🎯 Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED and five years of claims handling experience, with up to two years of equivalent experience substitutable • Bachelor’s Degree and three years of claims handling experience, with up to two years of equivalent experience substitutable • Working knowledge of Windows software • Must serve on the Catastrophe Team and travel on short notice to other locations for periods exceeding two consecutive weeks when required • Must provide 24-hour availability for emergency claims service • Successful completion of Introduction to Claims (AIC 30) and AIC 35 preferred • Appropriate license as required by state • Valid driver's license and good driving record required • Ability to use required personal protective equipment • Ability to move over 50 lbs using lifting aid equipment • Ability to climb/access heights • Ability to drive frequently • Ability to lift/move 0–20 lbs and 20–50 lbs • Ability to perform manual keying, data entry, computer use, and information inputting • Ability to push, pull, and move wheeled objects and equipment
