📋 Description

• Pitch and write stories for the Daily Skimm, including larger What’s Happening sections and smaller newsletter sections • Work with the Editor, News, to produce the newsletter each day • Collaborate with Daily Skimm staff, other newsletter verticals and the web team to ideate and create engaging content • Manage the newsletter production process from ideation to final upload • Use data and audience insights to optimize content formats and identify opportunities for existing or new products • Work with Social and Multimedia as needed to ensure a seamless and engaging email experience • Pre-write holiday newsletter editions • Cover politics, work, care, health, sports, tech, money and pop culture

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree • 4+ years of digital writing and production experience • Strong initiative and work ethic • Self-starter who lives and breathes content and is tapped into conversations women are having online and offline • Love of news and explaining complex stories • Ability to write about news with clarity and voice on tight deadlines • Sharp news judgment and ability to curate a newsletter for the target audience • Demonstrated experience using audience and performance data to inform editorial strategy • Deep interest in and knowledge of news, health, money, tech, sports, work, care and culture • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, particularly around time management, scheduling and project management • Passion for theSkimm and its mission • Willingness to work a non-traditional Sunday-to-Thursday schedule and non-traditional hours • Ability to cover other Daily Skimm team shifts as needed
