📋 Description

• Set the technical strategy for technical pillars and allocate technical resources, staff time, and investment • Provide final technical sign-off on workplans, technical deliverables, and normative products • Arbitrate technical questions across technical areas and awards • Ensure technical approaches follow current normative guidance and maintain integration across disease areas and health systems functions • Serve as senior technical interlocutor with the U.S. Department of State, ministries of health, normative bodies, and implementing partners • Direct technical responses to outbreak situations, donor-requested surges, and country programs in difficulty • Build the technical evidence base through peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and contributions to normative guidance • Lead technical strategy, design, and review for new business, proposals, and country buy-ins • Analyze project performance and recommend solutions to improve effectiveness and efficiency • Foster innovation, share best practices, and contribute to sustainable development goals • Engage internal and external stakeholders to share evidence, lessons learned, and best practices • Establish relationships across FHI 360 and coordinate responsibilities with Project Directors and senior leadership • Maintain technical relationships with donor technical staff • Oversee project implementation within the division and ensure programmatic quality • Set strategic direction and manage budgets • Lead, supervise, performance-manage, and support the professional development of technical experts • Line-manage technical area leads and oversee their performance, development, and deployment • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• Master’s Degree or international equivalent in Public Health, Medicine, Epidemiology, or Health Systems • Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in project management, overseeing complex projects and initiatives, or 9 years and a PhD • Minimum 8 years of experience in leadership and line management • Proven experience leading and managing complex, strategic portfolios of programs/projects nationally or internationally • Experience leading teams in complex settings and managing financial and human resources • Significant experience working in non-governmental organizations (NGOs) • Comprehensive knowledge of project management principles • Expertise in program implementation methodologies • Proficiency in organizational leadership practices • Expertise in strategic planning, risk management, and stakeholder engagement • Proven record of driving innovation and achieving impactful outcomes • Ability to meet or exceed revenue targets across USG, foundations/corporations, and other donors • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 25% • Ability to use Microsoft applications including Office 365, SharePoint, Skype/Zoom/Teams, and standard office equipment • Successful completion of appropriate screening checks, including reference, criminal record, and terrorism finance checks • Personnel must share FHI 360’s safeguarding commitment and sign the code of conduct • French in addition to English is preferred for the country portfolio; Portuguese is an asset • PMP or another recognized project management certification is preferred • Certifications relevant to research management or organizational leadership are preferred
