• Handle real estate escrow transactions by establishing accounts, managing funds, processing closing documents, and completing settlements • Determine closing requirements from buyer, seller, and lender instructions • Order title reports and resolve title defects, liens, and encumbrances • Establish escrow accounts, deposit funds, and maintain records • Prepare, collect, review, assemble, and explain transaction and closing documents • Calculate prorated taxes and interest • Obtain signatures and verify document completeness and accuracy • Record and file documents and distribute final closing statements and title • Prepare settlement statements using lender instructions • Balance and close escrow accounts and disburse funds • Comply with regulatory requirements and company policies • Maintain job knowledge through educational opportunities, publications, networks, and professional organizations • Perform other duties as assigned
• High School diploma or equivalent • 2-4 years related experience • Experience directly handling escrow transactions as an escrow assistant preferable • Valid Licensing/Certification as required by applicable state • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the escrow/title industry • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications • Good client relations and organizational skills • Ability to write reports and correspondence • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization • Ability to calculate discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume • Detail-oriented and professional; able to handle confidential information • Ability to deal with real estate sellers, buyers, agents, and brokers
