📋 Description

• Own Foodsmart’s ROI and clinical outcomes methodology, identifying which member populations benefit most and quantifying value for members and payers • Represent and defend the methodology directly to payers and external actuarial firms • Build scalable ROI and evidence methodology for new populations and payer conversations • Own the clinical research agenda and produce white papers, publications, and external research output • Partner with clinical teams to translate research findings and best practices into care delivery • Serve as the internal expert on clinical outcomes and contribute expertise to Foodsmart’s external client and prospect narrative • Lead and develop a small team while remaining hands-on with core research and methodology • Use AI and other tooling to extend research and analytical capacity • Report directly to the VP of Analytics & Data Science

🎯 Requirements

• Master’s degree required in health economics, biostatistics, epidemiology, economics, or a related quantitative field; PhD strongly preferred • 12+ years of experience as a health economist or actuary • 4+ years of team leadership experience • Track record of building and defending ROI and value-based care methodology • Published white papers or peer-reviewed research experience • Deep hands-on expertise in causal inference, including matched cohort design, risk adjustment, and quasi-experimental methods • Deep hands-on experience with healthcare claims data, including medical and pharmacy (Rx) claims • Experience presenting and defending ROI and outcomes methodology to payers, actuaries, or similarly technical external audiences • Experience partnering with clinical or care delivery teams to translate research into practice • Ability to work directly with data using SQL, R, or Python • Experience building automation through data modeling, AI tooling, and dashboarding • Familiarity with AI-native tooling such as Claude Code or equivalent • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
