• Conduct archival and background research • Conduct architectural and historical field surveys, including overnight travel • Prepare architectural inventory forms • Author architectural and historical resources reports • Prepare Determination of Eligibility forms • Conduct applicable field work for extended hours • Perform administrative functions using a computer • Assist in writing sections of reports • Prepare report figures • Manage personal tasks and adhere to deadlines and scope • Perform quality control of field work and documentation • Conduct field surveys independently • Stay on budget and schedule • Discuss work performance with supervisors • Interact professionally with staff, clients, agency personnel, landowners, contractors, and other stakeholders • Maintain and upkeep company-issued field equipment
• Minimum 4 years of related experience • Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree or a Master’s Degree in History, Architectural History, Historic Preservation, or a related discipline preferred • Required Associates or better in Anthropology or related field • Must be organized and write concisely and clearly • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations • Strong writing and communication skills • Current driver's license required • Ability to read and navigate field maps • Experience and knowledge of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act • Experience working on large-scale power and energy projects, including pipeline, electric transmission, renewable energy, and related infrastructure projects • Experience using Esri software, including Field Maps and Survey123 • Willingness and ability to travel extensively, potentially up to 100% during weekdays, with occasional weekend travel/work • Ability to work in weather conditions including heat and cold • Flexibility with work hours and safety-mindedness • Understanding of database software, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word • Architectural styles, trends, date identification, architectural attributes and materials knowledge • Excellent field, photography, mapping, note-taking, archival research, navigation, and sketch-map skills • Accurate completion of field forms and preparation of report figures • Basic knowledge of GPS locational equipment • Steel-toed boots required for many project sites • Ability to work independently, take direction, meet deadlines, and stay within budget and schedule • Strong oral and written communication skills with staff, clients, agency personnel, landowners, contractors, and other stakeholders
