📋 Description

• Answer incoming calls and make outgoing calls for members, medical providers, and pharmacy providers • Process prior authorization requests within state-mandated time frames • Complete approval processes for prior authorizations when criteria are met and pharmacist clinical judgment is not required • Communicate with providers regarding authorization submission status and other inquiries • Assist members and providers with pharmacy claims status, reject reasoning, drug coverage rules, plan benefits, and required next steps • Follow standard operating procedures to resolve calls on initial contact • Provide positive experiences and clear communication to members and providers • Conduct provider outreach to obtain required information • Document inquiries received by phone, fax, or email • Meet department requirements, goals, productivity targets, and performance expectations • Complete tasks within regulatory guidelines • Identify inefficiencies and provide innovative suggestions to leadership • Develop understanding of the client's business and support efficient procedures and service-level agreements • Perform recurring processing and quality tasks supporting outsourced services • Complete additional job-related tasks as requested • Remain compliant with PHI protocols, security policies, and confidential-data handling requirements

🎯 Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age • High school diploma or GED required • Active pharmacy technician registration with a Board of Pharmacy or certified pharmacy technician from an accredited program (PTCB, ExCPT, etc.), or must obtain certification within 12 months • 2 years of relevant experience as a pharmacy technician in retail pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, managed care, insurance, or pharmacy benefit management • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, email, and computer applications • Effective verbal and written communication skills • Accuracy, quality, and efficiency in all tasks • Willingness and ability to learn internal systems, processes, and programs • Basic math skills • Familiarity with medication names and medical terminology • General computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office, internet use, and email
