📋 Description

• Review and clinically verify new and refill prescriptions for therapeutic appropriateness, drug-drug interactions, contraindications, and dosing accuracy • Validate pharmacy technician prescription data entry • Verify filled prescriptions for drug, dose, quantity, NDC, and labeling accuracy before shipment • Perform daily prospective drug utilization review and resolve clinical flags • Manage specialty medication handling, including cold-chain verification • Provide proactive outbound patient counseling by phone • Handle inbound clinical patient calls and document interactions in the pharmacy management system • Provide bilingual counseling for Spanish-speaking patients where applicable • Contact prescriber offices to clarify incomplete, ambiguous, or clinically inappropriate prescriptions • Partner with prescribers on therapeutic substitutions, DAW overrides, and formulary alternatives • Supervise pharmacy technicians and conduct real-time quality checks • Escalate technician performance trends and participate in coaching and training • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, state pharmacy practice acts, federal DEA regulations, and corporate policies • Oversee PHI record handling and destruction • Participate in audits, prescription error tracking, near-miss reporting, and pharmacovigilance • Maintain temperature-sensitive medication storage compliance • Collaborate with pharmacy leadership, patient services, clinical, compliance, technology, shipping, and fulfillment teams • Provide clinical input on technology and workflow enhancements • Participate in team huddles, quality reviews, and department meetings

🎯 Requirements

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy • Active Pharmacy License in good standing with your state Board of Pharmacy and Idaho Board of Pharmacy • Strong command of the English language, written and verbal • Demonstrated ability to perform high-volume prescription verification with strong attention to detail and accuracy • Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn pharmacy management systems, verification platforms, and internal workflow tools • 3+ years of experience in a mail order, specialty, retail or closed-door fulfillment pharmacy (preferred) • Active pharmacy licensure required in home state; candidates must obtain licensure in 3 additional states within the first 9 months of hire (preferred) • Familiarity with pharmacovigilance or adverse drug event reporting protocols (preferred)
