📋 Description

• Directly manage the contractor data analyst and future analysts as the team scales • Set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and create development paths for data team members • Hire and onboard analysts as the function grows, defining the skills and standards the team will be held to • Partner with engineering, product, and clinical leadership to ensure the data team is aligned to business priorities • Own the Mode-to-QuickSight migration timeline and delivery — in partnership with the BI Engineer who owns the technical layer • Lead the Mode audit: document what exists, assess what's actively used and trusted, and drive rationalization decisions with stakeholders • Oversee the five-domain dashboard buildout from requirements through delivery, ensuring dashboards are accurate, adopted, and maintained • Drive consistency in reporting: ensure every dashboard and report reflects aligned metric definitions across teams • Own the data definitions process: facilitate cross-functional working sessions to establish and document agreed definitions for core metrics • Translate business questions into reporting requirements that the BI Engineer and analysts can execute against • Serve as the bridge between business stakeholders who need answers and the data team that builds the infrastructure to surface them • Maintain a living data dictionary and ensure definitions are accessible, versioned, and enforced in reporting • Perform or oversee ad hoc analysis to answer urgent business questions when the analyst team is at capacity • Review and validate analyst work product before it goes to stakeholders, maintaining a high bar for accuracy and clarity • Partner with the BI Engineer on data model design decisions that affect reporting quality and consistency

🎯 Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in data, analytics, or business intelligence — with at least 2 years in a management or lead role • Strong SQL skills — you can write and review queries, understand data model design, and validate report logic yourself • Proven experience leading a BI migration or platform transition (Mode, Tableau, Looker, or similar to a new environment) • Track record of driving cross-functional alignment on data definitions — you've facilitated the messy conversations and gotten teams to agree • Experience managing analysts: setting expectations, giving feedback, and growing people • Strong written and verbal communication skills — you can translate a business question into a data requirement and a data result into a business insight • Comfort in a startup environment where process is still being built and priorities shift • Experience with Amazon QuickSight or strong AWS data ecosystem familiarity is a significant plus • Healthcare or regulated data environment experience is a plus • Familiarity with dbt (data build tool) and dimensional modeling concepts is nice to have • Experience with clinical data, outcomes reporting, or payor-facing analytics is nice to have • Background in building a data function from early stage — you've hired the first analysts and defined the first processes
