📋 Description

• Lead technical aspects of electrical substation protection and control engineering and design deliverables • Perform basic and detailed design activities • Coordinate engineering documentation for procurement, manufacturing, and site erection • Provide protection, automation, and control design for utility, Oil & Gas, Offshore Wind, transmission, and distribution substations from 12kV to 500kV • Lead project design teams and optimize designs for installation, operation, maintenance, safety, quality, schedule, and budget • Develop protection and metering diagrams, tripping tables, logic diagrams, AC/DC auxiliary power diagrams, relay protection and control schematics, SCADA block diagrams, wiring diagrams, layouts, cable schedules, and bills of materials • Coordinate P&C design with layout engineers, relay setting engineers, site managers, commissioning engineers, and field personnel • Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers and review technical documentation • Apply GE, SEL, and ABB IEDs to define protection and control philosophy and theory of operations • Prepare engineering estimates and estimate equipment quantities and proposal costs • Assess project resources and materials and develop project execution plans • Communicate with the Project Engineering Manager and identify and resolve project risks • Perform battery and charger sizing, voltage drop, auxiliary AC power, and CT/PT/CCVT design calculations • Develop and support FAT, SAT, outage, and cutover plans and procedures • Support field testing and commissioning from the office or onsite • Perform engineering and constructability reviews and peer reviews • Support engineering KPIs, department goals, design procedures, standards, quality, and productivity improvements • Participate in return-of-experience and lessons-learned activities • Execute projects in compliance with business policies, tools, procedures, and methods

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Utility, Renewable and/or Industrial HV & EHV substation’s P&C and SCADA design • Ability and willingness to travel 20% of the time, including internationally • Ability to obtain Professional Engineering license within 1 year • Licensed as an Electrical (Power) Professional Engineer preferred • Fluent in written and spoken English • Excellent computer skills, including CAD software such as AutoCAD and EBase • Knowledge of ETAP and Aspen Oneliner • Familiarity with Relay Settings and SCADA configuration files • Experience with GIS substation projects and AIS • Equipment and P&C field testing, commissioning and troubleshooting experience • Understanding of utility substation, transmission and generation safety, operation, maintenance and testing practices • Familiarity with IEC 61850-based Digital Substations • Familiarity with NERC-CIP standards and guidelines for Cyber Security and Grid Interconnection • Familiarity with US Electric Utility customer design and construction standards and NEC, ANSI, and NERC-CIP codes and standards • Master’s in Power Systems preferred • Familiarity with project management and commercial aspects • For Canada, legal authorization to work in Canada is required • For the United States, legal authorization to work in the United States is required • Must satisfy applicable U.S. export-control citizenship or authorization requirements • Successful completion of a background investigation; drug screen as applicable for U.S.-based roles
