📋 Description

• Lead and coordinate the entire substation design and multi-discipline technical project team and contractors • Lead all technical aspects of AC power substation projects and perform detailed design work • Serve as the primary technical lead for scheduling, standards and specifications compliance, value engineering, design review planning, and quality assurance and control • Develop and oversee power single-line diagrams • Develop general substation arrangement drawings, including layouts, elevations, grounding, conduit/trench, cable routing, detail drawings, and control building layouts • Develop high-voltage bus, structures, equipment, and detailed arrangements • Act as the single point of contact for technical matters among customers, vendors, project managers, and engineering teams • Direct and support engineers, designers, and subcontracted resources to meet specifications, budgets, and timelines • Drive cross-discipline coordination for integrated substation solutions • Review and contribute to conceptual engineering, proposal documentation, BOMs, technical specifications, sourcing support, vendor quotation evaluation, and technical clarifications and assumptions • Lead preparation of high-voltage equipment specifications and contractor work scopes • Support vendor engagement and equipment selection, including potentially leading subcontracted design work scopes • Assist the manager with team productivity and billable utilization • Ensure engineering outputs meet customer critical-to-quality requirements and are delivered on time and within budget • Support commissioning and interfaces among customers and project stakeholders • Coordinate with vendors and professional customer interfaces • Lead the technical project team while coordinating with the Project Manager on schedule and budget

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university • Minimum of 12 years of experience in industrial or utility High Voltage substation design (+138kV) • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20%, including international travel, in compliance with company travel and tax policies • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the U.S. in good standing, with ability to get licensure in other states (desired) • Experience with EHV substation design standards • Expertise in transmission and distribution substation engineering for utility and renewable energy projects • Primary outdoor substation design, calculations, and electrical protection • Industrial power system design (12.5 kV and above) • Proficiency in battery sizing, DC system design, and AC auxiliary power calculations • Power transformer and circuit breaker selection • Conductor sizing and application • Grounding, lightning protection, and insulation coordination • Knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, NEC, and NESC standards • Field-testing and commissioning experience with strong emphasis on safety • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills • Customer-facing communication and commercial awareness, including change orders and project delivery • Proficiency in AutoCAD/MicroStation and design automation tools • Legally authorized to work in the United States • Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
