• Define the long-term technical roadmap for excitation systems across the global nuclear fleet • Lead obsolescence management, digital upgrades, and life-extension programs • Ensure excitation designs and modifications adhere to nuclear regulatory requirements and internal Nuclear Quality Management Systems • Lead root cause analyses for complex, high-priority system disturbances in nuclear facilities • Direct modeling and simulation of large-scale nuclear baseload generation and evolving grid-code interactions • Provide expert consulting to Commercial and Sales teams for nuclear retrofit tenders • Mentor Staff and Lead engineers and develop documentation standards • Lead formal design reviews for New Product Introductions and custom nuclear applications • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support for installation and commissioning led by the field services team • Serve as the final technical escalation point for excitation control systems across GE Vernova and legacy nuclear fleets
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering • Minimum of 10 years of experience in power generation engineering • At least 5–8 years specifically focused on excitation systems or mission-critical power plant controls • Exposure working within a Nuclear Safety Culture and navigating nuclear-specific quality and documentation standards • Deep knowledge in synchronous generator theory and power system stability • Strong systems engineering capability • Ability to lead complex, cross-functional integration efforts across excitation controls, generator systems, plant interfaces, and nuclear operational requirements • Ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information, if applicable • Ability to travel globally up to 25%; remote candidates may require up to 50% travel • Legally authorized to work in the United States • Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable • Master’s or PhD strongly preferred • 15 years of power generation engineering experience and 7–10 years focused on excitation systems or mission-critical power plant controls preferred • Participation in IEEE/IEC working groups or nuclear industry forums such as NEI or EPRI preferred • Professional Engineer (PE) license or specialized degree/certifications preferred
