GRID Alternatives is a nonprofit organization that builds community-powered renewable energy solutions to advance economic and environmental justice. It installs solar PV systems for low-income households, community organizations, multifamily buildings, and tribal communities while running workforce development programs (including Installation Basics Training, SolarCorps fellowships, and AmeriCorps placements) to train and place people in clean energy jobs. GRID also works on related clean mobility, battery storage, and public EV charging projects and engages in policy leadership and partnerships to expand equitable access to clean energy.

📋 Description

• Develop, socialize, and secure initial funding for a rolling portfolio of new strategic initiatives under GRID’s strategic plan • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with mission-aligned nonprofit organizations • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with mission-aligned businesses • Consult with internal teams on program development and funding opportunities • Collaborate with the policy team to identify opportunities to advance policies and support advocacy efforts • Engage in internal and external thought leadership with the communications team • Work with and sometimes supervise project-specific contractors • Complete occasional ad-hoc projects within the Strategic Development & Initiatives team and Policy & Programs Department

🎯 Requirements

• At least five years of directly relevant experience deploying clean energy technologies with underserved communities • Demonstrated skills and successful track record securing large-scale governmental and/or philanthropic funding • Professional knowledge/experience with markets and technologies relevant to GRID’s strategic initiatives • Knowledge of and relationships with key individuals and organizations in the equitable clean energy deployment sector • Professional knowledge/experience with governmental policies and publicly-funded programs for deploying clean energy technologies with underserved communities • Excellent persuasive and explanatory communication skills across concept notes, presentations, emails, in-person communication, and funding proposals • Availability for occasional nights and weekends • Valid driver’s license and good driving record if using a personal vehicle for work travel • California hires must pass screening for specified illegal drugs
