📋 Description

• Partner with the General Counsel and Paralegal to provide legal support to a fast-growing healthcare company • Evolve a legal ecosystem that addresses current and future growth, mitigates risk, and enables sustainable scaling • Provide comprehensive legal counsel on People/HR operations, including hiring, onboarding, performance management, terminations, leave, employee relations, compensation, benefits, and workplace policies • Support the Product Team’s technology and AI initiatives, particularly healthcare-related AI legal and regulatory matters • Advise on privacy compliance covering HIPAA, CPRA, data collection, use, storage, sharing, breach response, and consumer data rights • Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks across operations, contracts, and strategic initiatives • Establish and refine legal frameworks, policies, and processes • Ensure compliance with healthcare laws and regulations, including value-based care, provider risk-sharing, managed care, licensing and credentialing, PACE programs, billing, and reimbursement • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts with clinicians, facilities, healthcare providers, and strategic partners • Coordinate relationships with outside law firms • Advise executives and business units on operational and strategic decisions • Provide General Counsel coverage and handle escalated or specialized legal matters • Communicate with participants, caregivers, team members, and stakeholders in person, by phone, and electronically • Travel between work sites or community locations as needed

🎯 Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school • Active membership in good standing with the relevant state bar association; California ideally • Meaningful legal leadership experience with increasing responsibility • Ideally, a mix of in-house and law firm experience • Meaningful experience supporting HR, Product, and Privacy teams • Understanding of regulations and laws affecting HR, Product, and Privacy operations • Deep understanding of healthcare regulatory frameworks, including California-specific laws • Experience engaging with CMS, DHCS, OIG, or other state and federal agencies • Alignment with Habitat Health’s purpose and values • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment and navigate ambiguity • Ability to adapt quickly and contribute to continuous improvement • Strong learning and growth mindset • Ability to seek feedback, engage in healthy debate, and use data and curiosity to inform decisions • Integrity, ownership, sound judgment, and follow-through • Ability to communicate effectively with participants, caregivers, team members, and stakeholders in person, by phone, and electronically • Ability to remain stationary and/or move about for extended periods • Ability to travel between work sites or community locations as needed • Must comply with applicable infection control protocols, PPE requirements, and vaccination requirements associated with the role and work location • Employment eligibility verification through Form I-9 and E-Verify
