📋 Description

• Transact business with appointed wholesale trading partners • Identify, solicit, underwrite, and sell new and renewal Specialty accounts • Drive profitable growth aligned with industry segments, appetite, and line-of-business mix goals • Apply technical, sales, and analytical skills to provide insurance solutions that help customers manage risk • Use internal and external data to make individual and portfolio risk decisions • Operate within a standard letter of authority while managing a moderately to highly complex book of business • Apply risk selection, exposure and hazard identification and control, coverage analysis, and loss analysis • Use underwriting tools, disciplines, strategies, guidelines, pricing components, and rating methodology • Complete file documentation and explain account decisions • Prepare rating instructions and proposals for agents • Manage portfolio goals including premium, profitability, rate, retention, product mix, new business, and portfolio management • Analyze financial reporting information and insurance performance measures • Prepare or analyze underwriting decision, rate, requirement, appetite, status, and declination information • Identify, pipeline, negotiate, and close accounts aligned with business strategy • Profile assigned agencies and strategically market company capabilities to agents • Monitor state and territory issues, regulations, trends, market information, and competitor information • Develop producer relationships and activities to improve yield and retention • Identify cross-line-of-business and customer-segment sales opportunities • Partner with business units to deliver comprehensive insurance solutions • Make presentations to agents and customers • Leverage Claims and Loss Control partners to demonstrate service and technical expertise

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience • Generally, 3–7+ years of Specialty or standard commercial lines experience • 3–4+ years of experience driving agency relationships resulting in profitable new and renewal business and handling complex accounts • Ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems and adapt quickly to change • Ability to communicate and consult effectively with internal and external business partners on underwriting matters • Ability to exercise judgment, negotiate, and make sound business decisions within level of authority • Ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems, learn rapidly, adapt to change, exercise influence, and manage multiple concurrent projects • Ability to collaborate with team members and respect differences and diversity of ideas • Ability to prioritize work, monitor progress against timelines and deliverables, and mitigate risks to commitments • Knowledge of risk selection, exposure and hazard identification and control, coverage implications, and loss analysis • Knowledge of underwriting tools, guidelines, pricing components, rating methodology, and insurance performance measures • Knowledge of Hanover products, appetite, state and territory issues, regulations, and trends
