• Audit coders and coding auditors to ensure a minimum 95% coding accuracy standard • Perform quality checks and audits on visits according to client SOPs • Perform calibration audits and schedule calibration sessions with offshore counterparts and leaders • Prepare audit reports and provide feedback to coders and auditors • Participate in client interactions and internal stakeholder meetings • Monitor coding-guideline compliance and ensure audit errors are corrected before claims are rebilled • Analyze findings and present clear, concise, convincing, and actionable summaries to leadership • Assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes using established coding guidelines • Navigate patient health records and computer systems to determine accurate codes • Meet productivity standards for ambulatory coding audits • Maintain current knowledge of ambulatory/professional coding and reimbursement guidelines and regulations • Ensure patient information and medical-record signatures are correct • Conduct compliant coder queries and track missing documentation through EMR tools • Work with HIM and PFS teams to resolve billing, claims, denial, and appeals issues • Identify and help resolve coding and EMR workflow issues • Maintain ethical and professional coding standards and notify leadership of concerns • Perform additional data abstraction when required • Perform other duties as assigned
• Current permanent United States work authorization required • Must work in the United States • Day shift schedule required • Experience in coding specialties such as E&M, Oncology, Acute, Ambulatory, Cardiology, Radiology, Pathology, Anesthesia, Emergency Room, and Surgery • 2+ years of previous experience as a professional/profee/ambulatory coding auditor • 3+ years of experience coding professional/profee/ambulatory accounts • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, and SharePoint • Analytical skills, including problem solving, quantitative analysis, and workflow-process analysis • Strong attention to detail and follow-up/follow-through skills • Excellent time-management and organizational skills, with ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment • Independent judgment, discretion, and decision-making abilities • Ability to interact professionally with internal and external customers • Ability to learn a client’s environment, processes, historical context, and systems quickly • Financial acumen and analytical skills • Familiarity with revenue-cycle systems and deep understanding of revenue-cycle process flow and financial analysis • Strong oral and written communication skills • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated • Flexibility and adaptability to change • Must remain seated at a desk/computer for 8 hours daily and use computer monitors for 8 hours daily • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) through AAPC required • AAPC CPMA, RHIA, encoder experience, Epic experience, Cerner experience, and Meditech experience preferred
