📋 Description

• Develop engineering design drawings and calculation packages from conceptual phase through detailed design • Perform civil and structural design reviews for substation projects • Support development of bid and construction packages • Ensure substation facilities meet applicable safety and environmental regulations, including stormwater and SPCC requirements • Perform site design activities, including cut/fill determinations, grading plans, impervious additions, and erosion and stormwater control calculations • Conduct regular design reviews • Develop junior staff members • Contribute to bids and proposal development • Attend occasional site visits to client substation facilities • Travel occasionally for client meetings and industry-related events • Provide design support to field personnel during project construction • Collaborate with engineers, designers, drafting technicians, and physical electrical engineering teams

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering • 5+ years of experience performing electric utility substation design engineering and reviews • PE License in the State of California • Strong background in design of steel structures, concrete structures, site grading, geotechnical engineering, foundations, and substation access roads • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards • Experience designing and reviewing substation civil and structural designs in seismic areas for new and existing structures • Familiarity with surveying, geotechnical, and construction specifications • Compliance with quality control and safe work practices • Experience with STAAD.Pro, RISA 3D, FAD Tools, SAFE, SAG10, and LPile • Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation, and experience working with georeferenced drawings • Strong analytical and technical writing skills • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) • Ability to communicate with clients and staff • Experience with front-facing client operations such as lunch and learns and kick-off meetings
