📋 Description

• Investigate, analyze, and determine liability for personal, casualty, or property losses and damages • Assess and estimate vehicle or property damage • Correspond with and interview clients, claimants, witnesses, medical specialists, and agents • Obtain and evaluate client, customer, legal, property, police, medical, and supporting records • Gather physical evidence and inspect properties • Analyze and evaluate losses and attempt settlements when appropriate • Review applications, contracts, policies, and memoranda of coverage to determine coverage • Establish, monitor, and adjust claim reserves • Maintain records, reports, diaries, and files in CMIS • Document case activity and prepare timely client status reports • Collect evidence for contested claims in court • Select and manage defense and coverage counsel and experts • Direct defense counsel in litigated cases and keep clients advised • Serve as a technical resource for less experienced adjusters • Attend litigation hearings, settlement conferences, and mediations as necessary

🎯 Requirements

• Four-year college degree (preferred) • Comprehensive knowledge relating to the handling of public entity liability claims • At least five (5) years’ experience with insurance claims, self-insurance, pooled insurance, or Joint Powers Authorities (JPAs), including at least two (2) years handling litigated claims • Prior experience using claims management software and/or ability to quickly learn new software systems related to claims management • Appropriate jurisdictional adjuster license required where applicable to assigned jurisdictions • Familiarity with and license for liability claims in the New England/Tri State area preferred by the remote-work arrangement • Ability to handle medium to complex non-litigated and litigated claims competently
