📋 Description

• Own one well-scoped Internet measurement research project end to end • Design measurements and run them on ProbeNet and public platforms such as RIPE Atlas • Analyze full-scale BigQuery data and IP measurement datasets • Validate results against ground truth • Measure claims about IP address data against ground truth • Present results to the research team and company • Work with the research team on a paper submission after the internship • Ensure measurement methods work reliably • Put successful measurement methods into production pipelines • Collaborate with the globally distributed research team through weekly meetings and asynchronous Slack, GitHub, and Linear workflows

🎯 Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a PhD program in computer science or a closely related field • Research in Internet measurement, networking, or network security • Bachelor's or Master's students are not considered • Hands-on experience with Internet measurement data • Experience running scans, traceroutes, RIPE Atlas, or DNS measurements, or analyzing large BGP, traceroute, or DNS datasets • Solid knowledge of BGP, IP addressing, IPv6, DNS, anycast, and traceroute-analysis pitfalls • Strong Python or Go and SQL skills • Statistical care, including validating results and identifying measurement artifacts • Clear written and spoken English • Available for at least three months between May and October 2027 • CV and a cover letter of no more than one page required • Cover letter must include available start and end dates and answer all three specified questions
