📋 Description

• Maintain responsibility for implementing and maintaining one or more complex databases • Analyze the design, development, and delivery or implementation of data solutions • Design database architectures and prototype concepts through proof of concept • Develop standards, design and test plans, code, and module designs • Develop, test, debug, and implement efficient data solutions • Assist with planning and engineering the organization's databases • Monitor database performance, scalability, and security • Evaluate existing database designs to determine updates and integration requirements • Ensure final solutions meet organizational needs • Operate with substantial latitude for unreviewed action or decision • Mentor team members regarding technical competencies

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of experience supporting engineering efforts in system design and evaluation, solution engineering, software development, or system administration • 3+ years of experience with a complex build system • Experience leading and mentoring other DBAs on an Oracle-based system • Experience with Database Schema as Code tools • Experience designing large enterprise solutions • Experience with database partitioning and microservices • Experience conducting code reviews on SQL change sets and working with developers to create and enforce best practices • Hands-on or working knowledge of Process Playbook desired but not required • Prior experience with federal or VA.gov digital services highly desirable • Must be able to pass a US Government Public Trust Security Clearance • Experience analyzing and tuning queries to improve performance • Experience with Liquibase source control tools • Exposure to security scanning tools, configuring their use, and working with teams to fix vulnerabilities • Experience with ETL and data warehousing methods • Experience with installation, maintenance, and administration of PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or other non-Oracle RDBMS variants
