• Identify applicable reportable cases for abstract entry according to national and central registry requirements • Abstract all analytic and non-analytic cases according to Commission on Cancer standards • Perform annual follow-up review on all active patients • Interact with patients and designated contacts professionally and discreetly • Maintain work records, policies, and procedures • Meet departmental quality, performance, and production standards • Run software edits to ensure quality and completion of required fields • Perform quality assurance/performance improvement auditing, tracking, and trending for the required 10% review of analytic cases • Work with physicians to ensure quality standards and correction processes are met • Serve as gatekeeper for case finding and distribute cases among registrars • Complete Missouri and Kansas edits monthly and ensure NCDB edits are accurate and timely • Run quarterly Infoview reports of staged cases and help maintain QA review spreadsheet calculations/formulas • Notify Manager and Supervisor of quarterly cases staged for Cancer Committee • Coordinate and track RQRS/CP3R studies and report progress to Cancer Registry staff and Cancer Committee • Submit cases accurately and on time • Contact physician offices when treatment information is missing from the medical record • Track cancer conference attendance and maintain the compliance reporting grid for the Cancer Committee
• Associates Degree in related field • High School Graduate • 3 or more years experience as a registrar or abstracting • Certified Tumor Registrar - National Cancer Registrars Association (NCRA) • Epic and Cancer Registry software experience • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and/or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department • Must comply with HIPAA regulations • Preferred: Bachelors Degree in related field
