📋 Description

• Serve as the business partner to the Khan Kids product, engineering, and international programs teams, providing first-line legal and regulatory guidance on new features and products • Provide product counseling from ideation through launch, focusing on privacy-by-design, age-appropriate content and data practices, and responsible AI use in children’s products • Advise on children’s privacy compliance under COPPA, GDPR, age-appropriate design requirements, and regional data protection laws • Draft, review, and update terms of service, privacy policies, and parental consent flows • Analyze tax, business registration, and digital services laws for international markets • Coordinate with local counsel in target jurisdictions • Develop compliance guides, contract templates, and internal training materials • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to create legally compliant, child-centered user experiences • Handle additional legal matters with a global perspective • Report to the General Counsel

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of legal practice experience advising on consumer-facing websites or applications in global markets • JD or LLM from an accredited U.S. law school • Active membership in good standing of at least one U.S. state bar association • Ability to independently lead legal work streams across product, privacy, and international regulatory matters • Deep experience in consumer-product privacy compliance, privacy programs, user-facing legal documents, and privacy-by-design • Expertise in children’s privacy, including COPPA, GDPR, age-appropriate design codes, or similar frameworks; or demonstrated commitment to developing deep expertise • Experience navigating international regulatory landscapes and market-entry requirements • Ability to translate regulatory requirements into actionable product guidance • Strong business judgment and ability to assess and communicate legal and business risks • Experience building cross-functional relationships and influencing product, engineering, and business stakeholders • Comfort working in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment • Strong organization and attention to detail • Passion for early childhood education and products serving young children and families • Cross-cultural competency and inclusive perspectives • Nice to have: CIPP or similar privacy/data-security certification • Nice to have: AI governance, responsible AI, or AI regulatory-framework experience
