📋 Description

• Perform tissue culture, harvesting, slide making and banding, automated karyotyping, reagent preparation, and FISH processing, probing, and scoping • Determine specimen acceptability according to established testing criteria • Perform routine and complex technical procedures according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation • Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving • Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls • Report accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures • Support daily laboratory operations through FISH analysis, technical review, and workflow coordination • Contribute to training and development of team members

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology • 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR Bachelor’s in Cytogenetics OR an MLS degree • Non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits meeting CLIA standards may satisfy education requirements • Preferred: National Credentialing Agency (NCA) Cytogenetics certification (CLSp-CG) • Preferred: 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience in cytogenetic/FISH • Preferred: ASCP or AMT certification • Understanding of laboratory operations, policies, and procedures • Experience working in a high-volume laboratory environment • Ability to work independently and within a team environment • Proficiency with computers and familiarity with laboratory information systems • Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs • Dedicated, private home office space meeting HIPAA compliance requirements • Agree to have home address added to reports of cases analyzed or reported, as required by CMS • Wired or wireless internet with minimum speed of 100 Mb/sec • Ability to work remotely effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment • Work Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM ET
