📋 Description

• Handle on-demand interpreting sessions between Oromo and English speakers • Render the meaning of conversations accurately across healthcare, government, insurance, financial, utilities, travel and hospitality, business, law enforcement, court, and 911 industries • Process information quickly and concisely while recognizing sensitive cultural differences • Use appropriate terminology and understand common industry procedures and practices • Respond promptly to interpreting sessions in a friendly and professional manner • Render correct concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocol, avoiding omissions or additions • Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions • Maintain a professional demeanor and neutrality throughout interpreting sessions • Remain calm during incoherent, upset, emotional, stressful, or emergency calls • Maintain punctuality and availability during work hours • Follow client instructions and protocol, including avoiding interaction with the Limited English-speaking Person without client permission • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity in a diverse environment • Work from a quiet and secure home-office environment • Adapt to LanguageLine Solutions technology enhancements and operate company-provided software and systems

🎯 Requirements

• Fluency in Oromo and English • Skilled in Oromo and English cultural dynamics • Ability to provide cultural competency and assess regional and accent differences • Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills • Ability to concentrate, remain detached, neutral, and objective during sensitive conversations • Education or work experience in language-related fields preferred • Ability to adapt to LanguageLine Solutions technology enhancements • Must be at least 18 years of age • Legally authorized to work in the United States • Must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require US visa sponsorship • High school diploma or equivalent • Ability to read and write the requested languages highly preferred • Dedicated personal device for business purposes • Desktop/laptop with Windows, macOS, or ChromeOS, or an acceptable tablet or smartphone • No Kaspersky products or Huawei hardware • High-speed internet with at least 5 Mbps download, 3 Mbps upload, ping no more than 300 ms, and jitter no more than 30 ms • Quiet space free from background noise or distraction • Ability to operate a keyboard and mouse and remain stationary at a computer for most of the workday • Ability to operate company software and systems • Sufficient manual dexterity to type or write • Ability to lift up to 26 lbs • May be required to complete a post-offer pre-employment background check and/or drug screen based on location
