📋 Description

• Handle on-demand telephone interpreting sessions between Sylheti and English speakers • Render accurate meanings and concepts according to established interpretation protocols • Interpret across healthcare, government, insurance, finance, utilities, travel and hospitality, business, law enforcement, courts, and 911 • Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions • Maintain professional demeanor, punctuality, and availability during work hours • Remain calm during emotional, stressful, or emergency calls • Follow client instructions and protocol while protecting communication boundaries • Apply terminology and procedures for multiple industries • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and work effectively in a diverse environment • Work from a quiet and secure home office • Remain on calls for extended periods and manage high call volumes when required

🎯 Requirements

• Fluency in Sylheti and English and skilled in the associated cultural dynamics • Ability to provide cultural competency and assess regional and accent differences • Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills • Ability to remain neutral and objective during sensitive conversations • Education or work experience in language-related fields preferred • Ability to adapt to technology enhancements • Must be at least 18 years of age • Legally authorized to work in the United States • Must not now or in the future require visa sponsorship for employment authorization in the United States • High school diploma or equivalent • Ability to read and write the requested languages highly preferred • Dedicated personal device for business purposes • Desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone with supported operating system • High-speed internet with at least 5 Mbps download, 3 Mbps upload, ping no more than 300 ms, and jitter no more than 30 ms • Access to a quiet space free from background noise or distraction • Ability to operate a keyboard, mouse, company software, and systems • Sufficient manual dexterity to type or write • Ability to lift up to 26 lbs. • May be required to complete a post-offer pre-employment background check and/or drug screen
