• Support academic, college-career, and social-emotional development for Academy students in grades 6–12 • Review incoming student transcripts, including international transcripts, and support course schedule creation • Ensure students meet academic standards for promotion, graduation, and college acceptance • Monitor student pacing and progress according to Laurel Springs’ policies • Facilitate grade-level seminar courses and provide feedback on assignments • Provide individualized support for post-secondary goals, including career exploration, college list development, and pathway opportunities • Write letters of recommendation for student applications • Lead live and recorded Counseling Department webinars, events, and activities • Organize and support Academy-exclusive counseling opportunities • Communicate with students, parents, teachers, staff, and administrators via email, phone, video conference, and other tools • Collaborate with middle and high school faculty and staff on individual student support and comprehensive programming • Conduct frequent one-on-one meetings addressing academic, social/emotional, and college/career needs • Support student enrollment through virtual open houses and admissions or marketing events • Contribute to newsletters and school communications • Participate in school-wide meetings, events, communications, and activities online and in person, including required evening virtual events • Engage in ongoing professional development, self-assessment, and continuous improvement • Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, staff, management, and operations • Perform other counseling-related duties as assigned
• Master’s degree or higher in School Counseling • Active School Counseling certification • Ongoing compliance with state and local regulations relating to background checks and credentials • 5+ years of experience counseling or working in a school setting, specifically supporting high school students • Previous experience working with middle school students preferred • Extensive experience supporting students through the college application process • Experience developing student schedules and academic plans • Excellent skills with word processing, productivity, communication, and educational technology tools • Expertise with G-Suite, Learning Management Systems, and Student Information Systems strongly preferred • Strong analytical, interpretive, evaluative, constructive-thinking, and organizational skills • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills • Dependable, high-quality internet access and a quiet workspace • Availability during Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. ET and periodic evening events • Flexibility to support international students or students requiring communication outside office hours • Ability to travel to in-person events, meetings, and training at least once or twice per year
