• Manage construction projects throughout the United States Antarctic Program • Manage civil work, renovation, repairs, utilities construction, facility construction, and science construction support projects • Directly execute construction projects according to plans, specifications, and schedules • Manage construction activities and report project status, issues, and incidents through daily field activity reports • Plan and coordinate equipment, tools, and materials for self-performed work • Perform planning and estimating for construction estimates, schedules, and procurements • Perform constructability design reviews • Manage construction-phase change control and construction activity budgets • Identify design and specification changes and document changes through engineering review and requests for information • Participate in project meetings and teleconferences to monitor progress, implement procedures, ensure compliance, and enforce safety procedures • Report project progress and update schedules • Support resource deconfliction, subcontractor effectiveness, delay avoidance, and minimizing operational impacts • Coordinate construction support activities including material laydown areas, jobsite trailers, and temporary site utilities • Interact with NSF, military, and other agency officials • Coordinate ASC functional work groups and project-specific subcontractors • Maintain a safe workplace program and ensure safety is the highest priority • Perform other duties as required
• A bachelor’s degree with at least 8+ years of relevant experience is required; equivalent work experience is considered in lieu of a degree • US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance • 5+ years of construction supervision experience • Experience supervising trades employees, project scheduling, and project cost estimating • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and diagrams • Deployment to Antarctica required, approximately 4–6 months per year • Must complete NSF-required physical and dental examinations for Antarctic deployment
• Travel, lodging (dormitory accommodation), and meals are provided during deployment
