• Administer and implement Occupational Safety, Health, and Risk Management strategies in field camp locations and peripheral Antarctic operations • Serve as the primary on- and off-site safety and health point of contact for ASC operations and field camps • Develop and implement risk management strategies, plans, and tools • Ensure station, field, and peripheral operations meet safety and health program requirements and applicable Federal regulations • Complete routine site visits and safety assessments around USAP stations and field camps • Provide safety and risk management guidance to directors, managers, and camp leadership • Assist with incident investigations and root cause analysis • Perform industrial hygiene and safety surveys and document findings • Use and maintain health and safety instrumentation • Provide technical reports on improvement strategies and project status to the H&S Manager • Assist the EHS team with analysis, report generation, and project completion • Participate in pre-season science, sustain operations reviews, planning meetings, and applicable project and field-operation meetings • Deploy to McMurdo Station, Antarctica, and other Antarctic station and field environments
• BS in Safety Sciences, Chemistry, Environmental, Engineering, or a related field required; equivalent relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree • Minimum 5 years of experience with safety and health rules, regulations, standards, and effective safety programs • Experience with plant operations and/or construction safety, fire protection, public health, and development of related training programs • Field experience supporting logistics base operations for remote work camps, emphasizing heavy industrial or construction environments • Ability to adapt to extreme weather conditions, including high winds and low temperatures • Excellent written and oral communication skills • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance; the process may take up to 4 months • Relevant Antarctic or Arctic ESH experience preferred • CSP or CIH professional certification preferred • Ability to successfully complete physical, dental, and psychological examinations required for winter-over deployment positions • Deployment to Antarctica is required • US citizenship required
