LifeLink Foundation is a nonprofit organization that coordinates and promotes organ, eye, and tissue donation to save and improve lives. The foundation operates tissue banks and transplantation immunology services, partners with hospitals, transplant centers, medical examiners, funeral homes, and community organizations, and runs public education, donor registration, family support, and donor legacy programs. LifeLink also manages events, fundraising (LifeLink Legacy Fund), and outreach initiatives to increase donor registrations and support donor families and transplant recipients.

📋 Description

• Evaluate and respond to hospital referrals to determine potential organ/tissue donors • Apply LifeLink policies and procedures when performing and documenting referral timeliness and responses • Provide direction to responding staff • Gather information regarding BD, DCD potential, medical suitability, and order of priority/next of kin • Participate in the Referral Coordinator call schedule • Coordinate FCC and hospital development staff for timely onsite visits in collaboration with the Administrator on Call • Maintain 24/7 cell phone and computer access with real-time documentation • Collaborate with the Administrator on Call, Medical Director, hospitals, management, FCC, transplant coordinators, and development staff • Evaluate referrals and make preliminary suitability determinations • Verify donor and next-of-kin information and access the Donor Registry • Notify on-call team members of potential donor situations • Review the donation process and plan with hospital personnel • Monitor active referrals daily and maintain documentation in iTransplant • Handoff active referrals to the oncoming Referral Coordinator according to protocols • Follow up with hospital development, on-call, FCC, vascular, CSD, and tissue screening staff • Triage miscellaneous calls and coordinate with county coroners and state medical examiners • Assist with new staff orientation • Participate in hospital development initiatives, OPO meetings, special projects, QAPI activities, and assigned duties • Maintain required certifications and/or licenses

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum of one year in a related LifeLink position and/or appropriate credentialing and experience, which may include a medical-related degree/certification (RN) or appropriate experience in a medical environment • Completion of all requirements of the probationary level position or other related experience/position • Demonstrated above average verbal communication skills and phone etiquette skills • Availability to handle rotation of 24/7 call responsibilities and emergency back-up call coverage • Understanding that confidentiality must be maintained according to Foundation protocols • Local/state auto/air travel is required • Variable/rotation on-call days/hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays • Possible high stress/extended hours while on call • Maintain certifications and/or license • Bachelor's degree or better
