📋 Description

• Design, tune, and evaluate search retrieval and ranking systems • Build recommendation algorithms from the ground up • Model member and project intent and determine what recommendations to surface, when, and where • Analyze behavioral and catalog data to identify effective approaches • Improve query parsing, intent recognition, and semantic understanding for complex queries • Identify and help resolve catalog data quality issues • Invent, prototype, implement, and iterate on formulas, models, and re-ranking approaches • Evaluate image-based search and perceptual color matching • Build evaluation frameworks, success metrics, and experiments • Collaborate with product, engineering, and catalog teams to productionize research and ship improvements

🎯 Requirements

• Track record building search, recommendation, or ranking systems that shipped to real users and improved metrics • Advanced degree in a quantitative field such as computer science, machine learning, statistics, or applied mathematics, or equivalent hands-on experience • Deep understanding of search and recommendation systems, especially retrieval, ranking, and relevance • Strong query understanding and NLP, including semantic and embedding-based retrieval • Experience with statistical modeling, experimental design, and hypothesis testing • Ability to prototype and implement ideas hands-on • Experience deploying ML or data systems to production, or partnering closely on deployment
