• Supervise and support Workers’ Compensation Adjusters, Nurse Case Managers, and Claims Assistants. • Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance to team members. • Assist in training, onboarding, and professional development efforts. • Identify performance gaps and develop action plans to improve employee performance and productivity. • Conduct regular team meetings and participate in leadership meetings. • Promote a positive, collaborative, and high-performing team environment. • Assist with interviewing and evaluating candidates for open positions. • Review new claim assignments for coverage concerns, compensability issues, recovery opportunities, and potential claim exposures. • Ensure claims are managed in accordance with client requirements, company standards, and applicable Workers’ Compensation statutes and regulations. • Monitor claim handling activities, including: Compensability investigations, Medical management and treatment plans, Return-to-work coordination, Reserve adequacy, Indemnity and medical payments, Litigation management, Subrogation and excess recovery opportunities, Timely reporting and regulatory compliance. • Provide guidance on complex claims, litigated matters, settlements, and large-loss exposures. • Ensure timely escalation of significant claim concerns and client issues. • Maintain regular communication with assigned clients and stakeholders. • Participate in client meetings, claim reviews, and stewardship discussions. • Address client concerns and identify opportunities to improve service delivery. • Ensure claim handling aligns with client-specific instructions and expectations. • Maintain documentation of client communications and account activities. • Monitor claim quality, service standards, and workflow performance. • Ensure accurate and timely completion of required state filings and documentation. • Review claim files for adherence to regulatory requirements, company best practices, and client guidelines. • Partner with Quality Assurance and leadership teams to identify trends and implement process improvements. • Assist in maintaining claim closure and performance goals across the team. • Coordinate workload distribution and coverage during employee absences. • Assist with staffing needs and resource planning. • Escalate personnel, client, or operational concerns to senior leadership as appropriate. • Support special projects and other duties as assigned.
• 5+ years of Workers’ Compensation claims handling experience required. • Prior supervisory, team lead, or mentoring experience strongly preferred. • Extensive knowledge of Workers’ Compensation statutes, regulations, claims practices, and case law. • Strong understanding of compensability investigations, medical management, return-to-work programs, litigation management, and settlement strategies. • Experience reviewing reserves and managing claim performance metrics. • Excellent leadership, coaching, and employee development skills. • Strong verbal and written communication abilities. • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. • Demonstrated commitment to client service and operational excellence. • Proficiency with claims management systems and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Word. • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
