📋 Description

• Work with various business departments to understand business processes and needs • Identify and use relevant data sources for project work and ad-hoc analyses using statistical and machine learning algorithms • Work independently with guidance from senior data scientists and management • Communicate and collaborate with colleagues and managers regarding analysis needs and results • Provide data support on projects and work with the business on implementation • Create and maintain monitoring procedures and project reports, improving accuracy and efficiency • Collect data from different applications and data infrastructure • Extract, transform, and load large amounts of structured or unstructured data from various sources • Clean and prepare data for analysis; review data quality and consistency; optimize data retrieval methods • Create and maintain reports, graphs, charts, dashboards, and other programming and MS Excel outputs • Follow procedures to streamline analysis processes • Support automated procedures to reduce cost and improve efficiency • Respond to business questions and requests related to reports • Communicate with SMEs, EBI, MTS, and management to learn functional processes and KPIs • Create presentations summarizing identified problems and potential solutions • Participate in meetings to share findings and recommendations • Prepare and present relevant graphs and PowerPoint presentations

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in math, statistics, computer science or other related areas • Completion of the Summer 2026 Internship at Mercury Insurance • At least 2 years of experience in data mining and data/statistical analysis • At least 2 years experience with SQL and statistical software packages (Python, R, SAS) required • Experience in insurance or financial service related fields • Demonstrated solid skills in data mining, machine learning, programming and optimization • Knowledge with cloud-based advanced data and analytics environment • Experience using R, Python and other programming languages • Strong data skills and ability to work with large structured and unstructured data sources • Experience in predictive modeling, general model building, and validation procedures • Excellent problem-solving, analytical and critical thinking skills • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Ability to think conceptually, analytically and creatively • Demonstrate Company’s Core Values
