• Support the design and implementation of state government affairs strategies in the assigned territory • Oversee state government affairs consultants and lobbyists in the territory • Identify and build relationships with state stakeholder groups • Participate in and monitor state associations • Monitor state regulator or commission meetings • Monitor lobbyists to ensure company and state compliance requirements are maintained • Facilitate communication across departments and consult subject matter experts • Collaborate with Marketing, Communications, and consultant teams on state government communications, events, and campaigns • Create talking points and related materials • Track, flag, and report legislative developments using legislative tracking software • Analyze legislation and regulations to identify potential business impacts • Build relationships with government officials and policymakers • Report metrics such as meetings, testimony, and bill outcomes using CRM software • Collaborate with the Government Affairs Director on the Annual Report • Coordinate responses to risks and opportunities with internal and external teams • Support the Government Affairs Director in political compliance • Support proposals for government procurements • Embody Metrc’s Leadership Principles and perform additional assigned duties
• A bachelor's degree in political science, public administration, management, or a related field is required • Minimum two years of government affairs experience, preferably across multiple states and on technology issues or in another regulated industry • Experience working in state government or a state legislature is a plus • Experience working in a broad range of policy, regulatory, and legal environments is a plus • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal and external peers, elected officials, regulators, and constituencies • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in matters of significance and operate with integrity and within company core values • Demonstrated understanding of the policy-making process • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret legislation and regulations • Familiarity with Quorum or other legislative tracking software, Salesforce or other CRM software, and MS Office • Ability to work under pressure on multiple projects while producing high-quality deliverables within critical deadlines • Willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed
