📋 Description

• Write narrative-driven research reports that transform survey data and crosstabs into compelling thought leadership for B2B technology audiences • Develop the narrative before the writing: identify the central story in the data, separate signal from noise, and recommend the strongest defensible angle • Own research projects end-to-end: join client kickoffs, help shape research strategy and survey instruments, interpret findings, write the report, and present it to stakeholders • Lead client-facing sessions: facilitate strategy discussions, present findings, and confidently guide conversations with senior marketing and business leaders • Collaborate with the agency's data analysts and research operations team throughout each project • Direct AI-assisted drafting: use AI tools for first-pass organization and synthesis, then apply the judgment layer that turns output into strategic, original work. If you would rather always start from a blank page and never shape an AI-assisted draft, this will frustrate you • Review research reports and briefs for analytical rigor, narrative strength, and clarity • Contribute occasionally to content projects (blogs, case studies, thought leadership articles) when the content team needs support, with research staying your primary focus • Help grow the research practice over time: set editorial standards and mentor freelance writers as the team expands

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years in content strategy, research, journalism, or analyst roles • Hands-on experience with original survey research: you have written reports, white papers, or thought leadership from quantitative survey data, and you can read a crosstab and know what matters. • Exceptional editorial judgment: you know which finding deserves the headline, which belongs in the appendix, and which to leave out entirely • Strong narrative writing with a journalistic mindset: you build evidence-based arguments that change how readers think, not summaries of the numbers. If keyword-driven SEO content is your home turf, this is a different craft • Client-facing confidence with excellent spoken and written English: clear, fluent, and professional when leading live video calls with senior US-based stakeholders. If you prefer to stay behind email and avoid the camera, this role will not suit you • B2B tech fluency: you understand the B2B buyer and can translate technical concepts into accessible language • Strategic independence: given a dataset or a vague topic, you can develop the angle, the structure, and the narrative on your own. Detailed outlines and constant direction are not part of the workflow here • A plus, not required: time at a research firm (Forrester, Gartner, IDC, or mid-tier equivalents), B2B content or research agency experience, data or investigative journalism, in-house content marketing where you owned both strategy and execution, or survey design and methodology work.
