• Categorize, code, summarize, interpret, and calculate registry/case information from nuanced patient medical records • Ensure accurate submission of data to specified registries or measure data repositories • Prioritize and organize multiple concurrent tasks and team requests • Manage expectations, flag obstacles, and propose timely solutions • Navigate electronic medical records and registry/case entry tools • Troubleshoot technical issues with systems and applications • Contribute to team best practices, data dictionaries, abstraction guidelines, and business rule documents • Identify process improvement opportunities to streamline tasks and processes • Keep current with mandated regulatory and publicly reported data requirements • Perform additional assigned responsibilities
• At least 1 year of direct clinical surveillance experience abstracting hospital-acquired infections within the last year • Exposure to multiple patient medical record systems (EMRs) and clinical databases • Intermediate proficiency with MS Office, including Microsoft Excel • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills • High standards for accuracy and attention to detail • Technical savvy and willingness to learn new systems and technology • Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects/patient records • Clear communication and ability to adjust style and tone for collaboration • Strong self-organization and time management skills • Ability to manage multiple accounts and shifting timelines and priorities • Ability to adapt to changing timelines, requirements, and project assignments • Ability to keep PHI secure and confidential • At least 1 year of direct clinical surveillance experience with CIC within the last calendar year • Active CIC certification preferred • Direct clinical experience working as an Infection Preventionist • RN, LPN, RT, RVT, or RCIS credentials
